Welcome toLegnica
Under-construction sidewalks, an old train station, and
rainy weather… That was how Legnica greeted me on my
first day. Nothing better than a nice welcome to the city.
My friend and I first arrived in Wroclaw after a 6-hour
train ride from Warsaw and then took another train to
Legnica. We were so tired, and did I mention our giant
luggage? After we landed in Legnica, I thought, "Finally,
we’re here," but we needed to find the dormitory first. We As we began to walk, the rain
didn’t know about the Bolt service, and we didn’t have a started, and halfway there, one of

collapsed. We started feeling
anxious as we walked because
there were so many constructions
everywhere, and there were no
people around—it looked like a
very dead city. I remember
feeling sad for a moment,
realizing that I wasn’t home
anymore and this place would be
my home for the next months.
This kind of realizations
happened from time to time,
especially regarding culture,
people’s behaviors, traditions, and
even food. We Turkish people
and the Polish are very different
in most of these aspects, so it’s
quite normal to feel like you
don’t belong. And in those
moments, a friend can be really
helpful.
Legnica
After a long and questioning walk, we finally arrived at the dormitory.
The receptionist was very nice and welcoming; she showed us to our
rooms. We were staying on the same apartment floor, which was
amazing. There was a refrigerator on the floor and a kitchen at the
entrance.
My room for the new chapter of my life was in front of me. My
roommates hadn’t arrived yet, so I was the first one to get there. I
opened my door, and thank God, the room was great. There were
three beds, big windows, and a wonderful park view. I sat on my bed,
My dorm room and I think it finally hit me: I was here.
