ERASMUS 2025
So the Journey
Begins by Tuğçe PEKŞEN
Leaving home and traveling
abroad by yourself can be
both marvelous and
terrifying.
My Erasmus Journey:
How it started?
My experience living abroad was the happiest
time of my life. I went to Poland through an
exchange program called Erasmus, and I can
easily say it was the best year of my life.
I applied to the program with my best friend,
and we were thrilled to experience this once-in-
a-lifetime opportunity as students. To fund our
journey, we decided to work at a hotel in my
hometown. I worked as a barista, which I
enjoyed despite the occasional tough conditions.
I think I tasted every coffee and flavour on the
menu.
Being from a non-European country, Turkey,
we needed to get a visa, which was a stressful
and nerve-wracking process. After very long and
nerve breaking steps, we finally got our visas.
After three months of work, the day finally
came. We met at Istanbul Airport and boarded
our plane to Warsaw. The journey was as
amazing as we had imagined. We were served a
very nice lunch, and the flight was comfortable.
I still remember our excitement on the plane,
we were so ready to explore everything and
make this journey unforgettable.
