Heart
by Zeynep ONAY
I was walking through fields of wheat,
So horrendous, hearing the earth did tremble, the earth did split.
But it felt so soft beneath my gentle feet,
And darkness called my name; that was where I quit.
Your voice was like the wind that bends the trees,
Mighty spirit that took my heart and soul.
The world above grew distant as a breeze,
While shadows swallowed light to make me whole.
Now I've left a part of me in distant lands,
Where I feel unbound; I feel my mother's touch.
Yet still I heed the pull of unseen hands—
Between two worlds, I dance and hate too much.
In the depths of darkness, his throne feels like a cage.
As blooms awaken above, I yearn to turn the page.
