What a Twist
by Ayşegül KASAP
Your eyes, once warm as dawn,
Held worlds of us, a place to lean upon.
A quiet fire, a vow concealed,
In every glance, the truth revealed—
A love that lived, though now it's gone.
Now you look at me like winter,
Cold enough to make me shiver.
What was once a sunlit place
Is shadowed now by something sharper—
A darkness I can't unsee.
A twist of fate, from joy to pain,
A slow descent we can't explain.
Our moments fell like fleeting rain,
And left behind a hollow stain—
The bond we cherished now in vain.
I reach for memories, but they sting,
Turned brittle, bruised, and dry.
The warmth we had lies buried deep,
Covered in frost, lost in the silence
Of everything we couldn’t save.
